
The Western Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for four suspected armed robbers following a deadly attack on a gold-buying shop at Teleku Bokazo in the Western Region.
According to a press release issued on August 2, 2025, police in Esiama responded to a distress call on the evening of July 30, around 5:30 p.m., after six armed men wielding AK-47 rifles and machetes stormed a gold dealership in the area. The robbers reportedly shot indiscriminately and inflicted cutlass wounds on two attendants before fleeing toward the Salman Community.
A police patrol team quickly mobilized and pursued the robbers. During the chase and exchange of fire, one of the suspects, identified as 34-year-old Abdul Rahman, sustained serious injuries. Before succumbing to his wounds at St. Martin De Porres Hospital, Rahman mentioned the name of a fellow accomplice, Mohammed, along with others.
Investigations at the crime scene revealed that approximately six men had forcefully entered the shop, attacked the attendants, and made away after causing severe injuries.
Hospital reports confirmed that victims Samuel Appiah, 29, suffered deep cutlass wounds on his right thigh, while 45-year-old Kwamena Nketiah sustained gunshot wounds in both thighs. Both are currently receiving treatment.
On August 1, based on intelligence gathered, police arrested 25-year-old Mohammed Adamu, who was named by the deceased suspect, Abdul Rahman. He is currently in police custody, assisting with ongoing investigations.
A search in the nearby bush where the suspects were believed to have fled revealed several items, which have been taken in as evidence.
The Western Regional Police Command has assured the public that efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and bring them to justice.
