Officers from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) have reportedly raided the Atonsu residence of former Asokwa MP and former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah.
The operation took place on April 14, 2026, with officers said to have presented documents authorising a search of the premises. However, Mr. Jumah was not present during the exercise.
According to the Ashanti Regional Communications Director of the NPP, Paul Yandoh, the officers seized several items, including documents, a laptop, and keys to the house.
He questioned why the keys were taken and criticised the manner in which the operation was conducted, suggesting that standard procedures such as inviting individuals for questioning were not followed.
Yandoh also described the raid as politically motivated, raising concerns about its implications for Ghana’s political environment.
He warned that such actions could set a troubling precedent, especially with changes in political power.
As of now, EOCO has not issued an official response regarding the operation.
