The Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has promoted seven officers of the Tema Regional Police Command for their role in foiling an armed robbery operation in Tema.
The promotions, announced on April 14, 2026, follow an incident at Tema Community 5 where police responded swiftly to an attack on a mobile money (MoMo) vendor that escalated into an exchange of gunfire with the suspects.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the operation resulted in the shooting of two robbery suspects and the recovery of a firearm, ammunition, and other items linked to the crime.
The officers promoted are Chief Inspector Enoch Nartey Nuer, Inspector Gershon Dekpey, Inspector Prince Asante, Sergeant Lukman Mohammed, Sergeant Eugene Kuudouru, Corporal Jerome Akator, and Lance Corporal Jonathan Sewurah.
The Police Management Board and the IGP commended the officers for their professionalism and bravery during the operation, noting their effective response under pressure.
The IGP urged the officers to view their promotion as a call to greater responsibility and encouraged all personnel to remain disciplined in ongoing anti-crime operations.
The recognition comes as the Ghana Police Service intensifies efforts to combat armed robbery and violent crime in urban and commercial areas, particularly within the Tema enclave.
