Keta Secondary Technical School Triumphs Over St. Augustine’s College and Tamale SHS in 2023 National Science and Math Quiz Quarter Finals

In a thrilling showdown at the 2023 National Science and Math Quiz quarter finals, Keta Secondary Technical School (Ketasco) displayed their prowess, knocking out St. Augustine’s College and Tamale Senior High School (SHS) to advance to the next stage of the competition. The competition, which has been the center of attention for science and math enthusiasts, witnessed intense rounds of questioning.

At the end of Round 1, the scores were incredibly close, with Tamale SHS leading at 20 points, followed closely by Keta SHTS with 19 points, and St. Augustine’s College with 18 points. Round 2 saw Keta SHTS take the lead with 27 points, while Tamale SHS secured 22 points and St. Augustine’s College lagged behind with 17 points.

The “Problem of the Day” in Round 3 introduced a new challenge. Tamale SHS scored 3 out of 10, St. Augustine’s College managed 2 out of 10, and Keta SHTS secured 1 out of 10 points. The competition heated up further in Round 4, with Keta SHTS leading at 38 points, Tamale SHS following closely with 32 points, and St. Augustine’s College trailing with 29 points.

As the contest concluded, Keta SHTS emerged victorious with 44 points, earning them a well-deserved spot in the semi-finals. Tamale SHS displayed a strong performance with 35 points, while St. Augustine’s College secured 32 points.

Ketasco’s remarkable journey in the 2023 National Science and Math Quiz continued, with their impressive 5-star performance in the 1/8th stage, amassing an impressive 70 points. This win paves the way for Ketasco to face defending champions Presec and Mfantsipim School in the semi-finals. The competition is expected to be intense as Keta Secondary Technical School aims to replicate their stunning feat from 2021 when, led by Bright, Francisca Lamisi, and the late James Lutterode, they advanced to the finals, shocking the entire nation.
