The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed media reports alleging that about 60 percent of applicants who underwent military medical screening were declared unfit after testing positive for HIV.

In a press release issued on January 25, 2026, by the Department of Public Relations at the General Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, the Armed Forces described the publication as false and misleading and urged the public to disregard it.

According to the statement, the medical screening process for applicants is still ongoing and no official results have been declared. GAF therefore stated categorically that the claims being circulated in the media are fake news.

The Ghana Armed Forces further indicated that steps are being taken to trace the originators of the story. It also advised media practitioners, content creators, bloggers, and vloggers to be circumspect and to crosscheck their facts before publishing.

The statement emphasized the need for responsible journalism, particularly on sensitive matters relating to public health and national security, warning that the spread of unverified information could mislead the public and cause unnecessary panic.
