Massive Fire Guts Shops and Workshops at Sofoline Magazine in Kumasi

A massive fire has gutted hundreds of shops and mechanic workshops at Sofoline Magazine in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The fire broke out at about 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 25, 2026, rapidly engulfing several structures within the busy commercial area. Workshops, vehicles undergoing repairs, spare parts, equipment, and other goods were completely destroyed by the blaze.

Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service were quickly deployed to the scene and managed to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.

No casualties were recorded, but the incident has left many shop owners and mechanics counting their losses, as livelihoods were heavily affected.

Investigations have since been launched to determine the cause of the fire.
