Efya Highlights Sarkodie Collaborations as Her Standout Musical Partnerships

Ghanaian songstress, Jane Boafowaa Yahaya Awindor, popularly known as Efya, recently shared insights into her musical collaborations, highlighting the significance of her partnerships within the Ghanaian music sphere. Among her numerous collaborations, Efya revealed that her most exceptional musical endeavors have been with renowned rapper Sarkodie, acknowledging the impact these joint efforts have had on her prominence in the music industry.

In an exclusive interview with Joy FM’s Kwame Dadzie on Showbiz A-Z, the ‘Super Super’ hitmaker disclosed her extensive experience, having collaborated with nearly 120 artists. Despite her varied collaborations, she emphasized that her most challenging and rewarding collaborations were those involving the ‘Better Days’ rapper, Sarkodie.

“I have worked with almost 120 artistes. So the hardest collaboration will be anything that I did with Sarkodie,” Efya mentioned during the interview, underscoring the challenges and intricacies she faced while collaborating with the esteemed rapper.

Efya, recognized for her chart-topping tracks such as ‘I’m in Love with You,’ ‘Saara’ with Sarkodie, ‘Hold Me Down’ with Akwaboah, and ‘One of Your Own’ featuring Bisa K Dei, reiterated a stance she expressed on X (formerly Twitter) around two years ago. She emphasized that artists who hadn’t released collaborations featuring her in the past three years should consider revisiting those projects or refrain from releasing them. Efya stressed the need for constant refinement in music, pointing out that as artists evolve and improve their craft, older recordings might require updates to resonate with present-day music aficionados.

“Every year, new kicks and loops come out. Therefore, songs recorded about three years ago must be revamped to match the current taste of music lovers,” Efya elaborated. She highlighted the challenges in maintaining the quality and relevance of music amid the constant evolution of production techniques and audience preferences.

Efya also emphasized the importance of adapting to the changing times in music production. “Nowadays, it depends on the equipment used, and there’s a specific standard I aim for. Upgrading isn’t easy, but it’s necessary to meet current standards,” she explained.

Her remarks underscored the dynamic nature of music creation and the necessity for artists to continuously refine their work to align with contemporary trends, aiming to produce music that resonates with present audiences while acknowledging the contributions of collaborations, particularly those with Sarkodie, in shaping her musical journey.
