Suspects involved in the recent attack on staff of the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition have been identified and arrested, according to information gathered by Citi News.

Sources familiar with the matter have clarified that the individuals responsible are neither national security operatives nor officers of the Ghana Police Service, contradicting earlier reports that suggested police involvement in the assault.

The clarification follows widespread public concern after initial accounts claimed that officers of the Ghana Police Service attacked ministry staff following an altercation involving an official ministry bus.

Eyewitnesses told Citi News that the incident occurred on Friday, January 16, 2026, when staff of the Ministry were travelling in an official bus. The situation reportedly began after ministry staff raised concerns over what they described as reckless driving by occupants of another vehicle.

The disagreement is said to have escalated after the complaint, resulting in a physical attack on the ministry staff.

Earlier video footage circulating on social media showed a heavily built man throwing punches through the window of a Coaster bus carrying ministry staff, striking at least two occupants. The attacker was later seen moving to the driver’s side of the bus, where he allegedly delivered another blow.

Additional reports indicated that the assailants forced their way into the bus, assaulted more staff members, and caused damage to parts of the vehicle, including several seats.

Authorities say investigations are ongoing, and the arrest of the suspects is expected to pave the way for further legal action as efforts continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
