Ghanaians Who Vouch for Foreigners During Ghana Card Registration to Face Prosecution – NIA Warns

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced strict measures to clamp down on Ghanaians who illegally vouch for foreigners attempting to acquire Ghana Cards.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, August 4, 2025, the Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, revealed that legal action is already underway against some individuals involved in the fraudulent practice.

“Out of the 20 people currently being prosecuted, some are Ghanaians who vouched for foreign nationals,” he stated. “Our system makes it easy to detect such acts.”

He issued a stern warning to those exploiting the vouching process for profit, endorsing individuals they do not know personally.

“To those of you vouching for people you don’t even know just to make money be warned: we are coming for you,” Darlas emphasized.

The NIA reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the credibility of Ghana’s national identity system and called on the public to report any suspicious activity related to Ghana Card registration.
