Isaac Mensah has filed an interim injunction to stop the extension of Professor Akosua Dickson’s term as Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). This follows a similar lawsuit by a university alumnus, scheduled for hearing on July 30, 2024.

On June 20, 2024, KNUST announced Prof. Dickson’s reappointment for an additional two-year term, starting August 1, 2024, and ending July 31, 2026, after the University Council approved the Committee’s recommendation during its 282nd meeting.

In a notice dated July 29, Mensah argued that the extension violates the university’s statutes and good reasoning.

The KNUST alumni community has urged the initial applicant to withdraw the injunction, while some university unions are calling for peace amidst the legal dispute.
