The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) recently revealed the GAMIJ (Ghana Army Mini Jeep), a domestically crafted vehicle conceived by Warrant Officer Class One Awal Mohammed. This mini Jeep, priced at GH¢60,000, was showcased at the West African Security Social Activity (WASSA), aiming to provide efficient transportation within military compounds.
The GAF plans to allocate one GAMIJ to each military unit for their operational requirements, replacing the prevalent “Aboboyaa” tricycle. The vehicle’s affordability and fuel efficiency make it an appealing option for internal tasks within the barracks.
During the inaugural test drive, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama, CDS, alongside Nii Dzasetse of La, and Major Gener [truncated] took part in the event, endorsing the innovation and its potential impact on military operations. This initiative signifies a significant step towards utilizing indigenous solutions to meet the Ghana Armed Forces’ logistical needs.
