In a recent announcement, the West African Examinations Council unveiled the provisional results of the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for both School and Private Candidates. The Council’s initiative aims to keep the public informed about the performance of candidates in this critical educational assessment.
According to the released data, a substantial 600,900 candidates participated in the school examination, representing a balanced distribution of 300,404 males and 300,496 females from 18,993 schools. Notably, among these candidates were 53 individuals with visual impairment, 366 with hearing impairment, and 54 with other special educational needs. The examination was conducted across 2,137 centers nationwide, although 3,366 candidates were absent during the examination.
Simultaneously, the BECE for Private Candidates saw 1,839 individuals, comprising 942 males and 897 females, taking part in the assessment. The examination, held in fifteen centers primarily located in regional capitals, encountered 61 absentees.
For School Candidates, the Council will dispatch the results to their respective schools via the Metropolitan/Municipal/District Directors of Education. Private Candidates can access their results online at the Council’s website, www.waecgh.org. Additionally, School Candidates have the option to access their results on the website.
The release of these results signifies a crucial milestone in the educational journey of these candidates and provides a foundational point for their future endeavors.
