Tamale Court Fines 5 Over Illicit Drugs

The Tamale Circuit Court, presided over by Francis Asobayire, has sentenced five individuals to fines for possession of illicit drugs.

The convicts—Haruna Mohammed Sadais (27), Iddrisu Fidaws (20), Alhassan Wumpini (20), Bassit Iddrisu (21), and Alhassan Adam (33)—were arrested during a police patrol on March 5, 2025, in Tamale. A search conducted on them revealed tramadol, rohypnol, and cannabis, leading to their arraignment.

Sentencing Details:

  • Iddrisu Fidaws was fined GH¢90,000 for two charges (or 15 years imprisonment) and GH¢7,200 for two others (or 10 years imprisonment).
  • Alhassan Wumpini received GH¢90,000 in fines for two charges (or 10 years imprisonment) and GH¢10,800 for the remaining two charges (or 10 years imprisonment).
  • Bassit Iddrisu was fined GH¢19,200 for two counts (or six years imprisonment).
  • Alhassan Adam was fined GH¢90,000 for one count (or 15 years imprisonment) and GH¢10,800 for another count (or 10 years imprisonment).
  • Haruna Mohammed Sadais was fined GH¢99,996 for one count (or 17 years imprisonment) and GH¢84,000 for another count (or 10 years imprisonment).

The convicts pleaded guilty but failed to pay their fines and have been remanded in custody.
