The Parliamentary Service of Ghana has emphasized the necessity for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources’ investigation into the attempted sale of the Speaker’s residence to identify both the individuals behind the attempted sale and the prospective buyer.

Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, disclosed that an endeavor was made to sell his residence in Accra to a private developer while he was still occupying the premises. The revelation came to light when the developer sought to register the land at the Lands Commission.

Contrary to the reported sale, the Lands Commission released a statement refuting any sale of the said property to a private developer.

According to information obtained by Citi News on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Lands Minister Samuel Abu Jinapor initiated a probe into the matter, summoning top officials of the Lands Commission to acquire firsthand details about the attempted sale of the Speaker’s residence.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Parliamentary Service underscored the importance of the investigation and expressed encouragement towards the Lands Minister’s decision to delve into the issue. The service emphasized the significance of uncovering the individuals involved in the attempted sale and identifying the potential buyer.
