One Dead, Several Injured in Violent Youth Clash at Winneba

One person has been confirmed dead following a violent clash between two youth factions at Sankor in Winneba, located in the Central Region.

The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but disturbing videos circulating on social media show members of the rival groups inflicting machete wounds during the clash.

Confirming the incident, the Winneba Divisional Police Commander, ACP Ibrahim Opoku, said several people sustained injuries during the violence, which occurred on Sunday, January 25, 2026.

Following a review of the videos, police arrested multiple suspects believed to have participated in the clash.

It has been gathered that the deceased has been identified as Excoba, who reportedly died after sustaining multiple machete and gunshot wounds.

Police have since intensified security operations in the area and restored calm to the community as investigations continue.
