The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has settled on Baba Ali as its parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Ayawaso East by-election.

Confirming the decision on Citi Eyewitness News on Monday, January 26, 2026, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the party, Divine Agorhom, said the selection was guided by experience, humility, and the ability to mobilise grassroots support within a limited time.

According to him, the party intentionally chose a candidate who understands its internal structures and can work effectively with party members at all levels.

Mr Agorhom explained that after extensive consultations, party leadership was convinced Baba Ali met all the required criteria to lead the NPP’s campaign in the constituency.
