John Mahama is Your Brother, Not Your Enemy – Ya-Na Advises Bawumia

The leader of Dagbon, Ya-Na Abukari II, has advised Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the anticipated 2024 flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to refrain from engaging in a campaign marked by insults, emphasizing that his main opponent, John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), should be seen as a brother from the north, not as an enemy.

Emphasizing the common northern heritage shared by both Bawumia and Mahama, the Ya-Na highlighted the importance of mutual respect during the campaigning period. Expressing gratitude that both major political parties have chosen flag bearers from the northern region, he emphasized the opportunity this presents to showcase maturity, competence, honesty, and dedication in steering Ghana forward.

Responding to this counsel, Dr. Bawumia assured that his campaign strategy for 2024 would be focused on highlighting achievements rather than resorting to insults. Acknowledging the familial ties with John Mahama, he pledged to present constructive ideas aimed at complementing the country’s ongoing development initiatives.
