The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has interdicted six officers after a viral video captured them verbally assaulting a superior officer at the Offinso Inland Checkpoint in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on November 25, 2025, when a Deputy Commissioner of Immigration (DC01), travelling as a passenger on a commercial vehicle, encountered the officers on duty. The video showed the officers engaging in verbal abuse, open disrespect, and unprofessional conduct toward the superior.
According to the GIS, the behaviour displayed in the footage violates the Service’s Code of Conduct and falls far below the standards expected of immigration officers. The Service said it has consistently emphasised professionalism, civility, and proper behaviour in the discharge of official duties and dealings with travellers.
The Comptroller-General of Immigration reaffirmed that respect for authority, discipline, and integrity remain core values of the GIS. He stressed that any actions undermining these principles will attract swift and firm sanctions.
The Service apologised for the embarrassment caused by the incident and assured the public of its commitment to high standards of discipline and accountability.
Investigations are ongoing, and the GIS says further updates will be communicated when completed.
