The High Court in Accra has granted bail of GH¢50,000 each to Bishop Salifu Amoako, the founder of Alive Chapel International, his wife Mouha Amoako, and Linda Bempah, a sales assistant, in connection with a tragic car accident in East Legon that resulted in the deaths of two people.
Salifu and Mouha Amoako, parents of Elrad Amoako, the suspect driver, were arrested on Tuesday and appeared in court on Wednesday. They were charged with permitting an unlicensed person to drive. During the investigation, the parents admitted that they allowed their son to drive, despite his lack of a valid license, to places including a gym.
The Jaguar involved in the accident, owned by Mouha Amoako, was reportedly handed to Elrad by Linda Bempah, the third accused.
In court, the defense argued for bail, noting that the accused have fixed places of residence, are gainfully employed, and have no intention of committing further offenses or interfering with the investigation. Despite prosecution’s request for stringent bail conditions, they did not oppose the bail application.
The judge granted the three individuals bail of GH¢50,000 each, taking into account the misdemeanor charges against them.
