The Ghana Education Service (GES) has taken action against the headteachers of O’Reilly Senior High School and Ghana Senior High School, interdicting them following allegations of unauthorized activities.
Nadia Lartechoe Annan, the headmistress of O’Reilly SHS, received a directive through a dated letter of December 6th, 2023, to step aside. This action was prompted by suspicions of unauthorized monetary collection during the admission process, a violation of the school’s code of conduct. The letter highlighted the need for an investigation into the matter.
Similarly, Patience Naki Mensah, the headmistress of Ghana Senior High School, was asked to step aside, effective December 7th, 2023. Allegations surfaced regarding the unauthorized sale of ceremonial cloth and tracksuits to incoming Form One students, prompting the need for further investigation as per a letter dated December 7th, 2023.
Both interdictions were initiated by the Regional Education Offices of Greater Accra and Eastern Region, each citing different unauthorized activities – monetary collection and the sale of specific items – requiring comprehensive investigations. These measures reflect the GES’s commitment to addressing irregularities and ensuring adherence to prescribed guidelines within educational institutions.
