The 2020 BET Awards will come off as planned but in a virtual way. This was announced by the network on Wednesday.
This year’s show marks the 20th Anniversary of the network. The official nominations for this years BET Awards will be announced later.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the program which was set to take place from June 25 to 27 have been scraped.
More information concerning the program is available at BET.com/Experience. The Experience will return in 2021.
All VIP packages that have been sold out will also be refunded.
“The BET Awards are a seminal event, the biggest celebration of black culture, black accomplishments, black excellence and black potential”, said the president of BET , Scott Mills said.
“For the past twenty years,the BET Awards have paid homage to all things now and relevant. Despite the challenges of today, we will deliver a show filled with larger than life, inspiring, empowering and entertaining moments which have shown the magic of our culture for over two decades”. He added.
