Ursula Owusu-Ekuful Loses Ablekuma West Parliamentary Seat After 12 Years

The Communications Minister and Member of Parliament for Ablekuma West, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, has lost her seat in the 2024 general elections. Seeking a fourth term since her debut win in 2012, Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful was defeated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Rev. Kweku Addo, in a closely contested race.

Rev. Addo secured victory with 31,866 votes, compared to the incumbent’s 26,575. The election process in the constituency reportedly faced disruptions but concluded peacefully, marking a major win for the NDC.
