An Accra Circuit Court has sentenced Kelvin Boateng, a painter, to three years of imprisonment with hard labour for stealing an HP laptop from a graphic designer.
Boateng was convicted on charges of unlawful entry and stealing, with both sentences set to run concurrently.
According to Police Inspector Wisdom Alorwu, the complainant, Dennis Appau, a graphic designer in La, Accra, was working in his office on December 31, 2024, when Boateng scaled a fence wall, entered an office, stole the laptop, and fled.
A witness saw him carrying the laptop and raised an alarm. Boateng attempted to hide the stolen device in an uncompleted building, but Appau and his colleagues pursued him and recovered the laptop.
He was subsequently arrested and handed over to the police. During investigations, Boateng admitted to the crime and was later arraigned before the court, presided over by Mrs. Christiana Eyiah-Donkor Cann, where he received his sentence.
