Two delegates have been arrested by the Ashanti South Regional Police Command for allegedly using body cameras to secretly film their ballots during the ongoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary.
The arrests occurred in the Adansi Asokwa Constituency, according to the Ashanti South Regional Police Commander, DCOP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, who confirmed the development in an interview with Channel One News on Saturday, January 31, 2026.
DCOP Nyaaba said the suspects were found with body cameras mounted on their chests while voting, an act he described as a clear violation of electoral rules and a threat to the integrity of the voting process.
“When we got to the polling centres, we realised that some of the delegates were with body cameras on their chests to capture their ballots, and they had been arrested,” he stated.
He cautioned all delegates to desist from bringing recording devices into polling centres, warning that anyone found engaging in such conduct would be arrested and prosecuted.
“Delegates should stop bringing cameras to the voting centres because if you are found, you will be arrested and dealt with,” DCOP Nyaaba added.
Police say investigations are ongoing as the NPP continues its nationwide exercise to elect a flagbearer ahead of the 2028 general elections.
