
The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect for making inciting comments that could threaten public peace in Bawku and its surrounding communities.
According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on January 31, 2026, the arrest forms part of intelligence-led operations aimed at monitoring and curbing the spread of content that incites violence or undermines public order and national security.
The suspect, identified as Raphael Azare Kariyama, was arrested following investigations into comments deemed capable of jeopardising peace and stability in the affected areas.
Police indicated that the suspect is currently in custody and will be put before a court to face the full rigours of the law. Efforts are also underway to arrest other accomplices connected to the matter.
The Ghana Police Service has further cautioned the general public against making, publishing, or sharing inciteful comments, noting that such actions undermine peace and security across the country.
