
Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has been named Africa’s Most Outstanding Finance Minister of the Year 2025 by the Africa Development Council (ADC) African Leadership Ratings and Awards.
The recognition was conferred under the prestigious Order of the Star Awards category, which honours exceptional leadership and performance across key sectors on the African continent.
Dr Forson was recognised for his fiscal discipline initiatives, macroeconomic stabilisation efforts, and wide-ranging public finance reforms aimed at steering Ghana towards sustainable national recovery.
According to the Africa Development Council, the Finance Minister’s policy direction and management of the country’s finances have contributed significantly to restoring confidence in the economy while laying a strong foundation for long-term growth.
The award also highlights Dr Forson’s commitment to prudent public spending, strengthening revenue mobilisation, and implementing reforms designed to improve transparency and efficiency in public financial management.
Since assuming office, Dr Forson has championed measures focused on stabilising inflation, enhancing budget credibility, and promoting responsible debt management as part of broader efforts to rebuild the economy.
The ADC African Leadership Ratings and Awards recognise individuals and institutions that demonstrate excellence, innovation, and impact in governance and development across Africa.
