Interior Minister presents 10 vehicles to NACOC to boost fight against organised crime

The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has presented 10 Nissan Navara pickup vehicles to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) to enhance its operational capacity in the fight against organised crime and drug trafficking.

The presentation took place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, as part of the government’s broader strategy to strengthen national security institutions and improve public safety.

Speaking at the handing-over ceremony, Mr Muntaka said the government had intensified its support for NACOC to enable the Commission effectively combat narcotics-related crimes and dismantle organised criminal networks across the country.

He noted that the provision of the vehicles reflects the government’s commitment to building security agencies that are capable, responsive, and accountable in the discharge of their duties.

According to the Interior Minister, the additional logistics will significantly enhance surveillance operations, improve rapid response to intelligence, and support increased arrest and enforcement activities nationwide.

Mr Muntaka cautioned the management and staff of NACOC to ensure the vehicles are used judiciously and properly maintained to maximise their impact and longevity.

Receiving the vehicles on behalf of the Commission, the Director-General of NACOC, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, expressed appreciation to the government for the continued logistical support.

He said the donation underscores the government’s commitment to improving mobility and strengthening nationwide surveillance in the fight against drug trafficking and related crimes.

Brigadier General Mantey assured that the vehicles would be deployed responsibly and maintained effectively, adding that the support would greatly enhance NACOC’s operational efficiency and ability to protect communities from the harmful effects of narcotics and organised crime.
