Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has referred four newly nominated Deputy Ministers to Parliament’s Appointments Committee for vetting and consideration.
The nominees are:
- Dorcas Affo-Toffey – Deputy Minister for Transport
- James Gyakye Quayson – Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs
- Mohammed Adam Sukparu – Deputy Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation
- Grace Ayensu-Danquah – Deputy Minister for Health
These appointments, announced by President John Dramani Mahama on July 9, 2025, represent the final batch of his Deputy Ministerial nominations.
Presenting the nominees to Parliament on Thursday, July 17, Speaker Bagbin stated that although the Appointments Committee is expected to review their suitability, it is not under obligation to do so with urgency. He added that all four individuals have shown dedication in public service and possess the necessary qualifications and integrity to assist sector ministers in delivering on their mandates.
“Their curriculum vitae and supporting documents are attached to facilitate the vetting process. I trust that Parliament will consider and approve the nominations expeditiously,” Bagbin said.
Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, earlier confirmed that these were the final Deputy Minister nominations under President Mahama’s administration. He noted that the appointments were made in accordance with Articles 78(1) and 79(1) of Ghana’s Constitution.
