The Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has suspended its nationwide strike following an appeal from the government to allow two weeks to address outstanding concerns.
The announcement was made on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, by the Executive Secretary, Isaac Bampoe, during a press conference.
According to him, the National Executive Committee (EXCO) agreed to call off the strike temporarily after considering the government’s 14-day request to resolve issues relating to salary structure and conditions of service.
“We have considered the government’s appeal and decided to suspend the nationwide strike. We are instructing our members to resume work by March 24, 2026,” he stated.
The strike, which began on March 9, 2026, was aimed at demanding the full implementation of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) that seeks to establish a separate salary structure for members within the Civil and Local Government Services.
Despite suspending the industrial action, CLOGSAG leadership has indicated that it will not appear before the National Labour Commission, citing ongoing legal proceedings against the Commission.
The suspension is expected to restore normal operations across public institutions while discussions continue between the government and the association.
