Police in the have arrested five suspects in connection with an armed robbery attack on a Chinese heavy-duty machinery company at in the .

According to the , the incident occurred on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at about 7:20 p.m., when a group of armed men stormed the premises of .

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects, armed with pump-action guns, a pistol and machetes, held workers of the company hostage and robbed them of GH¢200,000 in cash.

During the robbery, the attackers reportedly handcuffed three Chinese nationals working at the company, locked them in a room and fled the scene in a black with registration number GS 576-25.

A patrol team from the responded quickly after receiving information about the robbery, but the suspects had already fled.

The information was subsequently circulated to snap checkpoints within the area. The getaway vehicle was later spotted on the and intercepted at the , leading to the arrest of four suspects.

Police retrieved several items from the suspects, including:

  • One Nokia C300 mobile phone
  • One Villooan mobile phone
  • Two CCTV camera decoders
  • Three pairs of handcuffs
  • Two pump-action guns
  • Fourteen AA cartridges
  • GH¢198,200 in cash

Police later arrested a fifth suspect, , 22, from his hideout on March 13, 2026.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing as police continue efforts to gather further evidence related to the robbery.
