Nigerian lawmaker Ned Nwoko, representing the Delta North Senatorial District, has responded to allegations of domestic violence made against him by his wife, actress and filmmaker Regina Daniels.
In a viral video posted on Saturday, the 25-year-old actress accused her 64-year-old husband of physical assault, stating that she could no longer endure the alleged abuse in their marriage. The couple, who tied the knot in 2019, share two children together.
Reacting to the claims in a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Sunday, Mr Nwoko denied the allegations and blamed the ongoing marital crisis on Daniels’s alleged drug and alcohol addiction. He described her recent behaviour as an act of “unprovoked carnage and rampage.”
According to the lawmaker, “Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation program, or I fear for her life and safety. I have other wives, and none will ever accuse me of violence. Regina is the violent one here.”
Mr Nwoko further alleged that the actress had physically attacked his staff and destroyed property within the past 48 hours. He stated that he had given her an ultimatum to accept rehabilitation either in Asokoro, Abuja, or abroad, particularly in Jordan, where she would have limited access to drugs.
He also accused Daniels of threatening to harm their resident nurse for allegedly exposing her drug use. Additionally, he claimed that Sammy West, who identifies as Daniels’s brother, was actually her drug supplier.
Following the viral video, Sammy West took to Instagram to accuse Mr Nwoko of physically assaulting Daniels and sending thugs to intimidate her family allegations the lawmaker has denied.
The controversy surfaced just weeks after Daniels shared a prank video featuring her husband, which appeared to irritate him but later ended with a playful comment from Nwoko, sparking amusement among fans.
As of press time, Regina Daniels has not publicly responded to the allegations.
