Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, one of the flagbearer hopefuls of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), has withdrawn from the race.
In a statement released on Tuesday, 5th September, he stated that he has withdrawn from the presidential race.
According to him, his decision to withdraw came after the NPP special delegates conference which he claimed was strategically and tactically skewed in favour of one particular aspirant.
He however did not mention the name of the aspirant but it can be narrowed down to either Kennedy Ohene Agyapong and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who were the only aspirants to have gotten more votes than him.
He also went on to say that the level of intimidations unleashed on a significant number of delegates at various polling stations across the country lived much to be desired. He as well made mention of the fact that one of his Polling Agents was severely beaten in the North East Region just because he was bold and wanted the right thing done.
He concluded by saying that he would give update in the coming weeks concerning the role he would play in Ghanaian political space.
He ended by wishing all aspirants the best of luck in the upcoming NPP presidential elections.
