Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has generously awarded a total of GH¢60,000 to the finalist schools of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) held at the New Examination Center, University of Cape Coast. Each of the three competing schools—Mfantsipim School, St. Augustine’s College, and Keta Senior High School—received GH¢10,000. Additionally, the teachers (trainers) from each school were presented with GH¢5,000, along with an extra GH¢5,000 awarded directly to each school.
The grand finale was a closely contested match, with Cape Coast’s Mfantsipim School narrowly defeating St. Augustine’s College, securing a victory with a final score of 47 to 46, and marking Mfantsipim’s third NSMQ championship win. The Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, delivered the cash prizes on behalf of Dr. Bawumia.
This year’s NSMQ, hosted for the first time in Cape Coast, celebrated the city’s historical significance in Ghana’s educational landscape, with contestants and schools honored for their outstanding performances throughout the competition.
