Case of Bishop Salifu Amoako and Wife Adjourned to November 13

An Accra Circuit Court has postponed the case involving Bishop Elijah Salifu Amoako, General Overseer of Alive Chapel International, and his wife Mouha to November 13, 2024. The couple faces charges after allegedly allowing their 16-year-old son, Elrad Amoako, to drive without a valid license, resulting in a fatal accident.

The adjournment followed a request from State Attorney Yaw Acquah, who sought more time to complete investigations and file required disclosures.

During the court session, Akosua Adjei Twumwaa, part of the defense counsel, expressed concern over widespread media circulation of photos of Elrad, including those from his surgery, claiming it was illegal to display images of a minor without consent. The defense requested that the court order the removal of these images and direct the Ghana Police Service and Police Hospital to comply.

Judge Samuel Bright Acquah, however, clarified that since Elrad, a minor, does not currently face charges before the court, it could not issue any orders on his behalf. The judge advised the defense to submit formal complaints through the Juvenile Court.

The charges against Bishop Amoako, his wife, and Linda Bonsu Bempah, a sales assistant, stem from an October 12 accident in East Legon. Allegedly, their unlicensed son drove a white Jaguar F-Space Sports, collided with an Acura utility vehicle, which then caught fire, tragically resulting in two fatalities. All three accused have pleaded not guilty and are on bail, each set at GH¢50,000.
