U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a new set of travel bans and restrictions affecting 12 countries, citing national security and immigration control as the primary motivations for the policy.

According to the Trump administration, the measures are aimed at countries with “inadequate traveler vetting systems,” suspected terrorist activity, and a lack of cooperation in accepting deported nationals. High rates of visa overstays were also a factor in the decision.
