Three people have been confirmed dead and six others injured after a devastating head-on collision between a Howo tipper truck and a Daewoo Matiz on the Kpando–Aziave road on December 3, 2025.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the distress call was received at 14:28 on Friday, December 5, triggering a swift response from the Anfoega Fire Station rescue team.

By the time officers arrived, six injured victims had already been rushed to the Margaret Marquart Catholic Hospital.

The tipper truck, which had two occupants, left the driver injured while the mate escaped unhurt. The Daewoo Matiz, carrying eight passengers, suffered the worst impact. Five passengers sustained various injuries, while the driver and two others were trapped inside the mangled vehicle. GNFS personnel managed to rescue all three, but the Matiz driver died instantly. Eyewitness accounts indicate that the Daewoo Matiz veered off its lane and into the path of the oncoming tipper truck, leading to the fatal collision. The impact left the smaller vehicle completely crushed, while the truck sustained significant damage to its windscreen, bumper, right headlight, and fenders.

Police officers supported firefighters in managing the scene, clearing debris, and restoring the smooth flow of traffic along the busy road.
