OSP Declares Former Finance Ministry Advisor Wanted Over Corruption Probe

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared Ernest Darko Akore, a former Technical Advisor at Ghana’s Ministry of Finance, a wanted person in connection with a high-profile corruption investigation.

According to a public notice issued on Tuesday, Mr. Akore, 67, is being sought for his alleged involvement in corruption and related offenses tied to the controversial Revenue Assurance Contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).

An arrest warrant has been issued by the High Court’s Criminal Division under suit number CR/0397/2025, in the case *Republic v. Ernest D. Akore*.

Mr. Akore, who previously served as Chef de Cabinet at the Finance Ministry, is believed to have played a key role during the execution of the GRA-SML contract. Authorities say he may be holding dual Ghanaian-American citizenship and was last known to travel frequently between the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, and South Africa.

The OSP has called on the public and international law enforcement agencies to assist in locating and apprehending the suspect.

The declaration comes amid intensified efforts by the OSP to investigate and prosecute high-level corruption, in line with its mandate to promote accountability and transparency in public service.
