NPP Leadership Orders the Removal of Alan Kyerematen’s Posters in the Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has instructed the chairpersons in all 47 constituencies to promptly remove any campaign materials related to the former Trade and Industry Minister, Alan Kyerematen, from their party offices. This directive comes in response to Alan Kyerematen’s resignation from the NPP on September 25, 2023.

In a memorandum dated the same day and signed by Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, addressed to all constituency chairpersons in the region, the party stressed that the promotional materials associated with Mr. Kyerematen have lost their relevance within the party offices due to his resignation. The memo emphasized the need for the immediate removal of posters, banners, flyers, and other items connected to Kyerematen.

Kyerematen’s departure from the New Patriotic Party occurred just one month after he withdrew from the party’s flagbearer race. Following his exit, he has declared his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election as an independent candidate.

During a media engagement on the day of his resignation, Kyerematen explained that his decision is motivated by his desire to offer the NPP an opportunity to participate in a government of national unity. He also reassured the party’s members of his continued commitment to the founding principles of the party.
