I Would’ve Been ‘Slaughtered’ if Akwatia Poll Was Wrong – Mussa Dankwah

Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah, has described his organisation’s projection for the Akwatia by-election as one of the most rewarding forecasts he has ever conducted.

Dankwah explained that the fulfilment came from the immense pressure he faced, knowing many were ready to criticise him heavily if the prediction had failed.

Ahead of the September 2, 2025 poll, Global Info Analytics projected a win for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Bernard Baidoo Bediako, with 53% of the vote. The Electoral Commission’s official results later confirmed the prediction, with Bediako securing 18,199 votes against 15,235 for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Solomon Kwame Asumadu.

Owusu Patrick of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) managed just 82 votes, out of a total of 33,819 valid ballots cast. Another 303 ballots were rejected.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, September 3, Dankwah admitted the stakes were extremely high.

“I knew I would have been taken to the slaughterhouse. They were preparing to take me there to finish me if I got this wrong,” he said.

Dankwah cautioned political parties against relying on propaganda, insults, or emotional appeals to sway voters, stressing that Ghana’s electoral dynamics have evolved significantly.

“The word here is poll, fair game, research, and science. Gone are the days when elections are won on propaganda, emotions, insults, or just anything. All the parties must realise that the demography of people voting in Ghana today has dramatically changed,” he noted.

He emphasised that over 70% of Ghana’s electorate is below 35 years old, a demographic he described as more discerning, connected, and quick to fact-check political claims.

“These people are well-connected, are on social media, and will be quick to fact-check you. If they fact-check you and realise that you are telling lies, that is your end,” Dankwah warned
