
Ten people have been confirmed dead following a fatal crash on the Accra–Kumasi Highway at Mile 44 in the early hours of Monday, April 13, 2026.
The accident involved a VIP passenger bus and a diesel trailer, according to the Ghana National Fire Service.
The Service said it received a distress call at about 4:24 a.m., prompting a rapid response from the Suhum Municipal Fire Station. A seven-member rescue team was dispatched to the scene and began emergency operations shortly after arrival.
Preliminary findings indicate that the crash was caused by wrongful overtaking by the bus driver, which led to the collision.
The bus was carrying 33 passengers at the time of the incident. Ten people, made up of nine males and one female, were confirmed dead.
