A suspected armed robber has been shot and killed during a targeted operation by the Ghana Police Service at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The intelligence-led operation, carried out on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, is part of ongoing efforts by the police to dismantle a robbery syndicate believed to be responsible for a series of attacks on residents and travelers within the area.
In an official Facebook update on Friday, March 20, the police identified the deceased as Amadu, popularly known as “Manu.” According to the statement, he sustained gunshot wounds during the operation and was later confirmed dead.
Preliminary investigations link the suspect to a robbery incident that occurred on March 14 along the Atebubu–Ejura highway. During that attack, armed assailants reportedly opened fire on a moving vehicle, leaving one passenger injured.
Police retrieved several items from the suspect, including a single-barrel gun, five live cartridges, a Tecno Pop 10 mobile phone, and an amount of GH¢200.
The police have assured the public that operations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang as part of broader efforts to enhance security and protect lives and property in the region.
