Mahama departs for AU Summit in Addis Ababa

President John Dramani Mahama has departed Accra for Addis Ababa to participate in the 39th Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union.

At the summit, President Mahama is expected to lead and participate in a number of engagements for the Union, focusing on key themes including Reparations, Gender, and Financial Inclusion. He will also co-host several high-level side events during the period of the summit.

On Saturday, the President will host a breakfast meeting centered on the Accra Reset initiative, dubbed “Addis Reckoning.”

In addition, he is scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with fellow African leaders and heads of multilateral organisations, and take part in an Italy-Africa Forum on the margins of the summit.

Also attending events in Addis Ababa is the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama, who will participate in the Summit of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD).

President Mahama and the First Lady are expected to return to Accra on Monday, February 16.
