The Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has praised the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) for exceeding its 2025 asset recovery target by more than GH₵133 million.
Speaking to the media on Thursday, December 18, Dr. Ayine said EOCO has so far recovered GH₵337.4 million, far above its initial 2025 target of GH₵200 million. He described the achievement as the highest recovery in the agency’s history.
According to the Attorney General, the milestone reflects strong institutional leadership and renewed integrity within EOCO, supported by the broader governance framework under President John Dramani Mahama.
“EOCO has exceeded its 2025 target which was set at 200 million. Recoveries currently stand at 337.4 million. This means the agency has surpassed its target by over 133.4 million,” he stated.
Dr. Ayine further disclosed that EOCO has also recovered assets worth about US$15 million linked to a fraudulent offshore company. He explained that part of the recovered funds will be used to compensate victims of the crypto fraud, while the remaining amount will be paid into the public treasury.
He commended EOCO for conducting what he described as complex and groundbreaking investigations, noting that the recoveries underscore the agency’s growing effectiveness in combating economic and organised crime in Ghana.
