Mahama Orders Probe Into Alleged Drug Trafficking Through Suspicious Flights at KIA

President John Dramani Mahama has ordered a full-scale investigation into allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering linked to two suspicious flights at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The allegations were brought forward by Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, during a press conference on April 1, 2025. In response, President Mahama, in a statement shared on Facebook, reiterated his administration’s commitment to tackling the issue with urgency and transparency.

To ensure a thorough investigation, the President has instructed the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), the Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), and the National Security Coordinator to collaborate with Rev. Fordjour in examining the claims.

Mahama assured the public that every effort would be made to expose and combat drug trafficking networks. He emphasized his government’s zero-tolerance policy on drug-related activities, citing a recent $350 million drug bust by the NIB as evidence of the administration’s resolve to dismantle illicit operations.

He further stressed that Ghana would not serve as a transit or destination for illegal drugs, reinforcing the importance of national security and the country’s international reputation.
