The Electoral Commission (EC) has declared its intention to unveil the 2024 electoral calendar before February concludes. This decision reflects the Commission’s commitment to maintaining the original December 7 date for the 2024 general elections, despite prior suggestions for a change.
Controversy arose recently over the possibility of altering the date for the 2024 elections, triggered by concerns from the Seventh Day Adventist Church regarding the election day coinciding with a Saturday, which is observed as a Sabbath day by Adventists.
Addressing questions during the Public Accounts Committee meeting on Wednesday, February 21, Deputy Chair of the Commission, Dr. Bossman Asare, affirmed that the commission will soon reveal the 2024 electoral calendar.
“We will certainly disclose it [the calendar] before the end of February. It should be out by the end of this month [February],” Dr. Asare assured the committee.
