Powerful 7.5-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Western Japan, Sparks Tsunami Alert

Reports emerged on Monday afternoon of a formidable 7.5-magnitude earthquake striking western Japan, leading to the issuance of a tsunami warning by both the United States Geological Survey (USGS) and the Japan Meteorological Agency.

The seismic event, occurring at a depth of 10 kilometers (approximately 6 miles), shook the region at 4:10 p.m. local time, centered about 42 kilometers (roughly 26 miles) northeast of Anamizu within Ishikawa prefecture, as per USGS data.

The Japan Meteorological Agency promptly issued a tsunami warning in the aftermath of the earthquake, prompting swift response measures as authorities and residents braced for potential coastal impacts.
