Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Leader of Parliament, has denied any involvement in an alleged plot to impose Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the New Patriotic Party (NPP). These denials come in response to an audio clip that aired on September 8, 2023, at Sompa FM, Suame-Kumasi, making allegations against various individuals, including NPP General-Secretary Mr. Justin Kodua Frimpong, former General-Secretary Mr. John Boadu, and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

In a statement released on Saturday in Accra, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu clarified, “I have not been involved in any interview, discussion, or conversation in which the statements contained in the clip have been made by me. I have not been part of any plot or effort to impose Vice President HE Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on the NPP.”

He also emphasized that the voice attributed to him in the audio clip is not his, describing the clip as an attempt to tarnish his reputation and sow discord within the NPP. He called on the President, Vice-President, Mr. Frimpong, Mr. Boadu, and all NPP members to disregard the clip and treat it with contempt.

Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu demanded a retraction and an apology from Sompa FM within forty-eight (48) hours, warning of further action if this is not met.
