Kennedy Agyapong has taken a stinging potshot at the Ghanaian media, labeling them as “stupid” for their insatiable promotion of foreign football at the expense of the local game.
In a monstrous no holds barred attack, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central charged on the local media for their constant and unrestrained promotion of European football at the detriment of domestic football.
He insists the domestic game would be better off if journalists channel their energies in promoting “their own”.
“Instead of promoting Ghana soccer, you rather give much attention to Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United and others. If you have given the same time of promoting European leagues to Ghana teams they will build their confidence and morale to improve their standards,” he told Oman FM.
“But now you will see some Ghanaians supporting Liverpool, Chelsea, Barcelona and others. Black people are very stupid. You don’t like your own,” nonconformist Politician added.
What is remarkably striking is the fact that journalists who have unquenched desire for foreign football are first and quick to take a shot at the administration of football in the West African nation.
It appears many thrive on negativity and will go at every length to taint the image of the game in the country.
