Awako May Not Play For Hearts of Oak, Says Agent

Gladson Awako’s agent, Yusif Chibsah, has said the midfielder ‘may not play for Hearts of Oak’ despite joining the Premier League champions.

The talented and exciting midfielder joined the Phobians this summer from rivals Great Olympics on a two-year deal.

However, multiple reports have emerged that Awako is eager to quit the club after a month at the club.

Awako missed the chance to make his competitive debut for the club on Sunday in their Caf Champions League game against Cl Kamsar.

The midfielder was not included in the squad for the 2-0 win over the Guinean side at the Accra Sports Stadium.

However, a day after the match his agent, who brokered the deal, has indicated that Awako could quit the club.

“Hearts of Oak gave Gladson Awako permission to hold personal training,” he told Asempa FM on Sports Nite.

“We won’t address issues in public. It has nothing to do with financial obligations.

“Hearts of Oak paid everything to the player. It’s likely he may play or may not play for Hearts of Oak but we have to meet the club to discuss his future,” Chibsah added.

Hearts of Oak reportedly paid $15,000 compensation to Great Olympics to register Awako whose contract with the Dade Boys was due to expire in October.

Awako excelled last season with seven goals and six assists as Olympics finish in a respectable 6th position.

Ghana Puts Two Past Cameroon To End Aisha Buhari Cup On A High Note

Two second-half goals from Princella Adobea and Vivian Adjei Konadu propelled Ghana to a 2-0 win over Cameroon in their second Group B game to end the Aisha Buhari cup Tournament on a high note.

The Black Queens went into the game on the back of a 3-0 loss to South Africa in the opening game and needed to win on Monday evening to redeem their image.

The first half saw a balanced game with Ghana dominating proceedings in certain portions but struggled to bury the chances that came their way.

Vivian Adjei Konadu, who was on the end of an explosive counter-attack, could not find the back of the net as her feeble effort missed the goal post by inches.

Grace Asantewaa and Princella Adobea came close as well but were both denied by Cameroon goalkeeper Bawow Ange Gabrielle.

Later in the second half, both teams came in stronger but the Black Queens dominated with some scintillating runs to the admiration of spectators at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.

Princella Adubea stormed down the left flank in the 59th minute before lifting the ball over the Indomitable Lionesses keeper Bawow Ange Gabrielle for the opener.

In the 73rd minute, substitute Sonia Opoku dispossessed her marker, drove towards goal and hit a powerful long-range effort which was parried away by keeper Bawow Ange Gabrielle.

Vivian Adjei Konadu sealed victory for the Queens after dribbling pass three Cameroonian defenders to slot home the winning goal on the 88th minute.

The Black Queens will return to Ghana to continue their preparation towards a crucial Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifier against Nigeria next month.
