On Sunday, February 16, the Overlord of Dagbon, His Royal Majesty Yaa-Naa Mahama Abukari II, made a landmark visit to Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewusoale I at his palace.
The visit symbolized a strong sense of unity and respect as the leader of the Dagbon Kingdom met with his counterpart from the Gonja Kingdom. Yaa-Naa Mahama Abukari II acknowledged the Yagbon Kingdom’s vital role in fostering peace within Dagbon and emphasized the lasting connection between the two traditional authorities.
Additionally, he reaffirmed his full support for President John Dramani Mahama, commending his leadership in revitalizing the nation for collective progress.
Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewusoale I noted that disputes over chieftaincy succession remain a major challenge in Ghana, particularly in the northern regions.
Savannah Regional Minister, Salisu Be-Awuribe, praised the Yagbonwura’s efforts in strengthening ties between the two kingdoms, stating that Yaa-Naa Mahama Abukari II’s reciprocal visit highlights a shared commitment to peace and unity.
